US Conducts Airstrikes Against Islamic State in Nigeria

The US has carried out airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Nigeria, at the request of Nigerian authorities, resulting in multiple targets being killed. President Trump announced the strikes on his social media, emphasizing their aim to combat the persecution of Christians in the region. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth indicated that further military action may follow. The US government has also designated Nigeria a “country of particular concern” due to religious violence.
