UP-W Metra trains stopped after pedestrian struck; ‘extensive’ delays anticipated – NBC Chicago

Metra trains in the western suburbs were halted due to a pedestrian being struck by a train, causing extensive delays on the Union Pacific West line. Additionally, other Metra lines experienced delays due to mechanical problems, including the BNSF, Milwaukee District North, North Central, and UP-NW lines. The cold weather with wind chills as low as -30 may have contributed to the track issues, as authorities continue to update on the developing situation.
