UN peacekeepers to ‘stay in all positions’ in Lebanon

United Nations peacekeepers will remain in all positions in Lebanon despite Israeli demands for them to move amidst escalating clashes with Hezbollah, with five blue helmets sustaining injuries. The UN peacekeeping chief confirmed the decision to keep UNIFIL in place, despite Israeli criticism, after Israeli forces were accused of breaching a UN post. The UN Security Council expressed “strong concerns” and called on all parties to respect the safety of UNIFIL personnel under Security Council Resolution 1701.
