Internationally recognized Ukrainian scholar Oleg Maltsev is in pre-trial detention in an unsanitary prison, facing life-threatening conditions, accused of attempting to disrupt Ukraine’s constitutional order. Despite support from the academic community, Maltsev has been the target of a defamatory media campaign, with allegations of fabricated criminal charges and judicial harassment dating back to December 2023. The motives behind his case remain unclear, leaving questions about who is orchestrating his persecution.
