Election 2026: Nicola Willis addresses New Zealanders’ impatience for cost-of-living changes

Finance Minister Nicola Willis has described New Zealanders as “impatient” for expecting the new government to quickly resolve issues stemming from previous Labour leadership. Her comments followed the latest Ipsos Issues Monitor, which revealed that the National Party, while gaining support, still trails Labour on managing the cost of living and is behind or equal on 15 out of 20 key issues. Willis acknowledged the challenges faced by Kiwis in recent years and the high expectations for immediate change following the election.
