In a significant ruling, the High Court in London has deemed the UK government’s ban on the pro-Palestinian group, Palestine Action, as “unlawful”. The ban had been imposed last year, with the group being labeled as a “terrorist” organization. However, the court has now overturned this decision, stating that it was disproportionate. As a result, activities such as holding protest signs in support of Palestine Action will no longer be considered unlawful. Despite this ruling, arrests and prosecutions of activists engaged in direct actions for the group will continue. The ban had been put in place following incidents of vandalism at military sites and government buildings by Palestine Action members. The group has been advocating for an end to UK support for Israel’s actions in Palestine.
