UK kicks off review into training AI models on copyrighted content

The U.K. is developing regulations to govern the use of copyrighted material by tech companies for AI training. A consultation has been launched to provide clarity on obtaining and using intellectual property for AI training. Some artists and publishers are concerned about companies like OpenAI and Google using their content without permission to train large language models, leading to legal disputes such as the one between The New York Times and Microsoft/OpenAI, and Getty Images and Stability AI in the U.K.
