UAE brokers Ukraine-Russia swap for 350 prisoners: What we know

The United Arab Emirates facilitated a prisoners-of-war swap between Ukraine and Russia, with 175 captives from each side being returned home, bringing the total to 3,233 people returned through Emirati mediation. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy thanked the UAE for their efforts, as the exchange followed a call between US President Trump and Russian President Putin, where Putin agreed to halt attacks on energy infrastructure but rejected a proposed 30-day ceasefire. Efforts by the UAE and Saudi Arabia to mediate between Russia and Ukraine have intensified, with possible future talks planned in Saudi Arabia to discuss peace efforts.
