A Mexican Navy training ship, Cuauhtemoc, collided with the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City on May 17, 2025, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries among its crew. The ship, which was set to embark on a goodwill tour to Iceland, lost its three masts during the incident, with some sailors left hanging from harnesses as rescue efforts commenced. While at least 19 individuals required medical treatment, including four seriously injured, the historic bridge itself sustained minimal damage, and the cause of the collision is currently under investigation.
