Turkmenistan, with vast gas reserves, mainly exports to China due to limited infrastructure; however, a recent deal between Turkiye and Turkmenistan will bring Turkmen gas to Turkiye, diversifying export routes. The agreement, signed by BOTAS and Turkmengaz, aims to start gas flow on March 1, 2025, strengthening natural gas supply security in the region and furthering strategic cooperation between the two countries. Additional plans for a potential annual gas trade volume of 15 billion cubic meters in the next 20 years may require the construction of a new pipeline to achieve this goal.
