President Donald Trump’s signature will soon appear on U.S. currency as part of the plans to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Independence Day on July 4. This marks the first instance of a sitting president’s signature on banknotes, which traditionally feature the Treasury secretary and treasurer. Critics, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, have condemned the move as reminiscent of authoritarian practices, especially following the approval of a commemorative coin depicting Trump.
