Trump’s lawyers are urging Judge Juan M. Merchan to dismiss a hush money conviction against Trump, claiming it will interfere with his preparations for returning to the White House and running the country. The lawyers, Todd Blanche and Emil Bove, plan to file formal paperwork by Dec. 20, following a deadline set by Special Counsel Jack Smith. They are asking the judge to consider the will of the voters who re-elected Trump, rather than the prosecutors representing the “People of the State of New York.”
