Trump Tells Apple CEO To Avoid Manufacturing in India

U.S. President Donald Trump instructed Apple CEO Tim Cook to halt the company’s manufacturing expansion in India, despite India’s offer of a “no-tariff deal” to the U.S., which could hinder India’s goal of becoming a global tech manufacturing leader. During a state visit to Qatar, Trump expressed his concerns, stating, “I don’t want you building in India. India can take care of itself.” Apple has already increased its manufacturing presence in India, assembling $22 billion worth of iPhones in the past year, with a majority of devices shipped to the U.S. expected to come from India and Vietnam.
