Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and National Economic Council director Kevin Hassett have not named the specific countries, but data shows China, the EU, Mexico, Vietnam, and others have contributed to America’s trillion-dollar trade deficit. The U.S. Trade Representative is particularly interested in 21 countries for unfair trade practices.
