Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan rejected a request to dismiss the criminal hush money case against President-elect Donald Trump and set his sentencing for Jan. 10, stating he is not inclined to impose prison time and may opt for unconditional discharge. Trump was convicted of falsifying business records related to a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election, with his lawyers arguing for dismissal based on presidential immunity and political motivations. Trump’s spokesman criticized the ruling as a violation of the Supreme Court’s immunity decision and called for immediate dismissal to allow for a smooth transition process.
