President Donald Trump signed an executive order pausing the enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, a law that prohibits bribing foreign officials. Trump believes the law hinders business deals, but the pause aims to align the FCPA with economic interests and national security. The FCPA, established in 1977, prevents American firms from engaging in corrupt practices overseas to uphold the rule of law and prevent public corruption worldwide.
