President Donald Trump has ordered the dismantling of Power Africa, a USAID initiative aimed at improving electricity access in Africa, with most programs and staff being terminated. However, some projects connecting US companies with African ventures may be transferred to other agencies. This decision reflects a shift towards cutting federal spending and ending aid programs that do not directly benefit national interests, marking the end of significant US aid efforts in Africa’s power sector.
