Donald Trump’s lawyers made a mistake when they subpoenaed a man named Jeremy Rosenberg from Brooklyn for the former president’s hush money trial. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office revealed that Mr Trump’s attorney Todd Blanche tried to subpoena former District Attorney Investigator Jeremy Rosenberg in March for files related to Michael Cohen, but it turned out to be a different man with the same name from Brooklyn.
This Brooklynite decided to have some fun with Mr Trump’s attorneys and jokingly told them he would keep the money they sent him. He informed them that he had no files for them and mentioned that the phone number they provided was disconnected. He also humorously stated that he would be keeping the fifteen dollars they sent him for sending the documents.
It was later revealed that the subpoena was served on the wrong person, and Mr Trump’s lawyers had made an error. The trial against Mr Trump is set to begin on 15 April for falsifying business records to cover up payments made to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
Mr Trump is facing multiple trials while campaigning for the White House, and his attempts to dismiss the case against him have been unsuccessful. The trial is expected to proceed with requests for communication records between Mr Rosenberg and Mr Cohen.
Mr Rosenberg, known for prosecuting Steve Bannon, was suspended last year over his communication with Mr Cohen. The case involves allegations of falsifying business records to cover up payments made to Stormy Daniels and others.
