Researchers have made significant progress in confirming the location of the San José, a Spanish galleon that sank in 1708, carrying a treasure worth about £14.8 billion ($20 billion). New underwater images and analyses of coins found at the wreck site, dated 1707, provide strong evidence linking the wreck to the San José, which was lost during the War of the Spanish Succession. Colombian President Gustavo Petro has announced plans to raise the wreckage before the end of his term in 2026.
