A transmission system at a cost of ₹719.76 crore is planned for Tamil Nadu under the GEC-II Scheme, aiming to integrate 19 GW of renewable energy capacity into the State’s transmission system. The project cost of ₹12,031.33 crore will be partially funded by a Central Financial Assistance of ₹3,970.34 crore, with the remainder covered by loans from institutions like KfW/REC/PFC. Under the GEC-I Scheme, Tamil Nadu was targeted to add 2.20 GW of renewable energy capacity, of which 1.77 GW have been added and 1,068 ckm of transmission line have been completed.
