Townspeople Come Together After Bushfire Destruction

Daryl Otzen fell in love with a property in the Strathbogie Ranges, but tragically lost his home and possessions in a devastating fire known as “the beast.” The small town of Ruffy, home to 164 residents, has been severely impacted, with many losing their homes and local structures, including the school and community center. Despite the destruction, the community remains resilient, coming together to support one another and rebuild. The Longwood fire has burned approximately 136,000 hectares, leaving lasting trauma among the townspeople.
