Yangtze Memory Technologies Corporation (YMTC), China’s leading flash memory chip manufacturer, has achieved a significant technological breakthrough with its new Xtacking4.0 memory chip design, featuring a dual-deck structure with a total of 294 gates and a storage density of over 20 gigabits per square millimetre. This design surpasses its predecessor with an industry-first capacity and around 270 active memory layers, according to a report by TechInsights. Despite US sanctions, YMTC has managed to overcome competition by incorporating this new chip technology, demonstrating Beijing’s push for technological self-sufficiency.
