Far-right activist Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for contempt of court for repeatedly breaching an injunction preventing him from making libellous allegations against a Syrian refugee named Jamal Hijazi. Robinson admitted to 10 breaches of the court order, including airing a documentary at a rally in Trafalgar Square, despite being barred from repeating false claims about Hijazi who successfully sued Robinson for libel after being assaulted in 2018. Robinson’s actions were deemed “flagrant” by Mr Justice Johnson, who handed down the sentence at Woolwich Crown Court.
