Albany’s Gas Network Decommissioning
Albany’s gas network will be phased out, requiring about 60% of connected homes and businesses to transition to bottled gas over the next three years, as ATCO cites the network’s aging infrastructure. The estimated $80 million cost of replacing the mains will fall on customers, given Albany’s status as a “not covered network.” ATCO promises a seamless transition, with no appliance changes needed, as they work with the community and Alinta Energy to ensure support during the process.
