Millions of Americans woke up to daylight saving time, sparking debates in various states about adopting permanent standard time or daylight saving time. Some states, like Arizona and Hawaii, already don’t change their clocks, while others have passed laws for permanent daylight saving time, contingent on neighboring states doing the same. Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Oklahoma, Maine, and North Carolina are all considering legislation to either maintain standard time or daylight saving time permanently, with some bills dependent on federal action or neighboring state agreements.
