Several Los Angeles firefighters, including Capt. Jerry Puga and retired firefighter George Baxter, lost their homes to the destructive Eaton fire, leaving them devastated and facing the challenge of rebuilding their lives. Despite their decades of firefighting experience, they were unable to save their homes, with Puga describing the fire as a “pouring rain of embers.” Firefighter John Stuhlman, who lost cherished possessions in the fire, expressed feeling broken and uncertain about returning to the San Gabriel Valley.
