The NHL playoffs are right around the corner, and while we await a few matchups, we already know the 16 teams that will be competing. If you’re a fan of one of these teams, you’re probably too nervous to read this, anxiously awaiting the start of the playoffs. Playoffs, baby!

For the rest of you who support one of the 16 teams that spent the season rebuilding, it’s time to pick a bandwagon team to root for. You can choose to be a neutral observer, hate-watch your team’s rivals, or pick and choose which series to follow and root for. But if you’re considering jumping on a bandwagon, here’s a breakdown of all 16 playoff teams, ranked from worst to best bandwagon options.

Starting with the defending champs, the Golden Knights may not be the best bandwagon choice after their recent success and controversial moves in the league.

The Lightning, a former champ, are a solid team but may not offer the underdog appeal many bandwagon fans are looking for.

The Kings, although they peaked early, are not the most exciting bandwagon option this year.

The Islanders, known for their low-scoring games, might not be the most thrilling choice for bandwagon fans.

The Kraken, with shaky goaltending, face a tough first matchup, making them a risky bandwagon pick.

The Panthers, a strong team with a long-suffering fan base, could be a fun bandwagon choice but may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

10. New York Rangers

The Rangers, the best team in the league in the regular season, might not be the most exciting bandwagon pick due to some statistical concerns about their performance.

The Leafs, a team with a history of postseason failure, present an interesting bandwagon choice for those willing to overlook their past shortcomings.

6. Washington Capitals

The Capitals, an underdog team with low expectations, could be a compelling bandwagon choice for fans who enjoy rooting for the unexpected.

2. Winnipeg Jets

The Jets, a team with a remarkable turnaround this season, offer an inspiring bandwagon choice for fans looking to support an underdog.

1. Dallas Stars

The Stars, a skilled and entertaining team with a good chance at winning the Stanley Cup, top the list as the best bandwagon pick this year.
