Johnson County, Texas is seeking federal assistance and declaring a state of emergency due to high levels of PFAS chemicals found on cattle ranches from contaminated sewage sludge fertilizer. The county is calling on Governor Greg Abbott to join the declaration for disaster assistance to fund testing, monitoring, cleanup, and euthanization of contaminated cattle. Despite concerns over PFAS health risks, the state of Texas has not indicated support for Johnson County’s efforts.
