Teen struck by lighting at famed park as freak thunderstorm hit New York City

A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was struck by lightning while standing next to a tree in Central Park, New York City, during a severe thunderstorm on June 19, 2025. He was transported to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center with minor burns, but he was alert and in stable condition after the incident.
