Teachers ‘reluctant to use AI for pupil learning and assessment’

A study by BCS found that most teachers (64%) are not using AI tools like ChatGPT for pupil learning and assessment, with 19% showing no interest in future use. Many teachers (41%) reported a lack of clarity on their school’s AI policy, and 84% have not changed their assessment methods despite AI availability. BCS recommends including AI understanding in teacher training, establishing clear AI policies in schools, and providing guidance from educational authorities like the Department for Education and Ofqual.
