Rugby League Bans Following Player Injury

Two doctors and the head trainer involved in Tongan forward Eli Katoa’s care during a Pacific Championships test against the Kiwis have been banned from rugby league for at least two years after he suffered serious head injuries. The November 2 match saw Katoa experience “seizure activity” and require emergency brain surgery, jeopardizing his NRL career. An NRL investigation revealed significant breaches of medical protocols regarding player safety. A medical assistant received a formal warning for their role in the incident.
