Taylor Taranto, a pardoned defendant from the January 6 Capitol riot, was sentenced to time served and three years of supervised release for livestreaming a bomb threat in Barack Obama’s D.C. neighborhood in 2023. The Justice Department withdrew its initial sentencing memo referencing his Jan. 6 involvement, leading to the suspension of two federal prosecutors. U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols commended the prosecutors for their professionalism, while the revised memo omitted key details about the riot. Taranto was also convicted of illegally carrying firearms and must undergo drug testing and a mental health evaluation.
