Scores of taxi drivers have obtained licenses despite having convictions for violent offenses, according to data from a Freedom of Information request by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust. The charity found that licensing authorities are aware of these offenses, including assault and harassment, yet still grant licenses. The trust warns that women are at risk when sharing cars with drivers who have a history of violence, urging ministers to change the law to prevent drivers with violent convictions from getting licensed.
