Taiwan condemns China for conducting shooting drills off its coast

Taiwan condemned China’s military exercises near its southwest coast, citing increased military activity and 45 aircraft, 14 navy vessels, and one ship from the Chinese military operating around Taiwan. Taiwan responded accordingly, deterring Chinese coast guard boats near Kinmen island and detaining a Chinese-owned vessel for severing an undersea cable. China’s state-run news agency reported senior official Wang Huning calling for reunification, while Taiwan accused China of exaggerating the situation.
