Syria’s new leader Ahmed al-Sharaa stated in an interview with Al Arabiya TV that elections could take four years, emphasizing the importance of ties with Iran and Russia, and calling for the United States to lift sanctions. Sharaa also mentioned the integration of local Kurdish-led forces into the national army and highlighted the need to rewrite the constitution in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254 for a political transition in Syria.
