Syria’s Kurdish parties convened a conference in Qamishli, adopting a joint political vision for a “decentralised democratic” state that guarantees Kurdish rights, amidst concerns over the new Islamist-led government’s control following the ousting of Bashar al-Assad. The Kurdish National Council’s official, Mohamad Ismail, emphasized the vision’s commitment to constitutional rights and called for dialogue with the Damascus administration. Although the Kurdish-led authorities criticized the new government’s lack of representation, they asserted their aim was to promote unity in Syria, with significant participation from key Kurdish organizations.
