New leaders in Damascus call for cordial Syria ties with a resistant Israel

Governor of Damascus Maher Marwan, appointed by the new administration in Syria, stated in an interview with NPR that Syria does not seek conflict with Israel and wants to avoid any actions that threaten Israel’s security or that of any other country. Marwan’s remarks were seen as a significant shift in Syria’s stance towards Israel and were praised by experts in the region. The new Syrian leadership, led by Ahmed al-Sharaa, is focused on rebuilding the country and avoiding any conflicts with neighboring countries.
