The Supreme Court denied bail to gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, serving life imprisonment for the 2007 murder of Mumbai Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar. Despite claiming compliance with the 2006 remission policy, his plea was rejected by the Bombay High Court, which was upheld by the Supreme Court. Arun Gawli, founder of the Akhil Bharatiya Sena and former MLA, was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2012 for the murder case.
