Sudan’s army recaptured Khartoum’s international airport and a key base of the Rapid Support Forces, moving closer to regaining full control of the capital after nearly two years of war. General Abdel-Fattah Burhan landed at the airport and inspected troops, while the military also seized the RSF’s last stronghold in Khartoum, the Teiba al-Hasnab camp. The conflict between the military and the RSF has caused widespread displacement and famine, with at least 28,000 people killed, and while the capital has been liberated, the RSF still controls parts of Darfur and other regions.
