The announcement marks the first time direct Libyan involvement in Sudan’s ongoing war has been alleged.
The Sudanese army has accused Khalifa Haftar’s forces of attacking its border posts, marking the first allegation of direct Libyan involvement in Sudan’s three-year civil war. The Sudanese military claims this attack, supported by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allegedly backed by the UAE, constitutes a “blatant aggression” against Sudan. In response, Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the assault as a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law, emphasizing the role of Haftar and his allies in the conflict.
