Mass killings and mass displacement have led the UN to declare Sudan the “epicentre of suffering in the world,” with approximately 12 million people displaced and at least 40,000 killed since the civil war began in April 2023. The RSF’s recent capture of Al Fashir has exacerbated the crisis, leaving civilians in dire conditions as they flee. Despite diplomatic efforts, the military leader insists that the fighting will only end with the complete destruction of the RSF.
