Nearly a century after dark matter was proposed, a new study suggests the first direct evidence of its existence may have been detected. Prof. Tomonori Totani found a pattern of gamma rays from the Milky Way’s center that aligns with predictions for dark matter emissions, potentially indicating it consists of particles 500 times heavier than protons. However, experts urge caution, emphasizing the need for further research and evidence from other cosmic regions to confirm these findings.
