In a fitting tribute to the 1970s dynasty team, the Canadiens kicked off the 1975-76 NHL season with impressive wins over the Los Angeles Kings and the Boston Bruins. Led by Guy Lafleur, the Canadiens finished the season with a remarkable 58-11-11 record, outscoring their opponents 337-174, and went on to win four consecutive Stanley Cups with an overall regular-season record of 229-46-45.
