Strikes hit near east Lebanon’s main city of Baalbek and close to the southern city of Tyre on Thursday, destroying buildings and targeting Hezbollah-affiliated rescuers, prompting Israel to issue evacuation warnings for both areas. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned Israel’s actions as war crimes and called for diplomatic pressure to halt the strikes, as the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah continues, resulting in casualties and destruction in the region. Mikati also mentioned the possibility of a ceasefire linked to the implementation of UN Resolution 1701, which calls for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory and deployment of Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon.
