During the US-Israeli war on Iran, Tehran has declared the Strait of Hormuz open to all except the US and its allies. The closure has caused oil prices to soar above $100 per barrel. Various countries including Pakistan, India, Turkiye, China, France, and Italy are negotiating for safe passage through the strait. US President Trump proposed a naval coalition to secure the strait, but many countries have ruled out military involvement. Iran has allowed some vessels from Pakistan, India, and Turkiye to pass through. China is in talks with Iran for safe passage for its vessels. France and Italy have also requested talks with Iran for passage. Germany, Greece, and the UK have declined to participate in the naval coalition proposed by Trump.
