5-Year-Old Liam Conejo Ramos’ Father Released from Immigration Detention
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A federal judge in Texas ordered the release of five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, who are asylum seekers detained in Minnesota, by February 3. U.S. District Judge Fred Biery prohibited any removal or transfer of the pair, who were apprehended shortly after Liam returned from preschool. The Department of Homeland Security claimed the father abandoned his son during the arrest, a narrative disputed by family and school officials. The case is under habeas review as their asylum application remains pending.
