The 200 federalized California National Guard members in Portland and 200 from Texas in Chicago will return home, as they never deployed due to ongoing legal challenges. While these troops were activated by President Trump in early October, they did not carry out operations. California will retain 100 Guard members, and Texas will maintain 200 volunteers for future missions. Additionally, 200 Illinois National Guard members will stay active in Chicago, while Oregon’s federalized troops will be reduced to 100.
