Over 700 flights were canceled nationwide on Saturday as the FAA limited capacity at 40 major U.S. airports due to the government shutdown, with total cancellations expected to exceed Friday’s 1,024. Staffing issues in air traffic control continue to cause delays, prompting Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to warn of potential further reductions if the shutdown persists. The FAA has advised private jets to avoid affected airports, yet international flights remain unaffected to comply with international agreements. Duffy emphasized the importance of these agreements to maintain U.S. travel relations.
