A California murder case that remained unsolved for nearly 30 years was resolved when DNA evidence identified Nickey Duane Stane as the killer of 22-year-old Debbie Dorian in 1996. Stane, who had a history of sexual assaults, was arrested in 2019 after forensic genetic genealogy linked him to the crime scene. He pleaded guilty to Dorian’s murder and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. A “20/20” episode airing on Nov. 14 will explore the details of this shocking case.
