US Attorney Resigns After Refusing to Charge Letitia James

U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert resigned under pressure from Trump officials to pursue a criminal case against New York Attorney General Letitia James, after investigators found no evidence of wrongdoing. Trump claimed he fired Siebert, who plans to continue as a line prosecutor, while Maggie Cleary has been named acting head of the Eastern District of Virginia’s office.
